YS Jagan to launch Jagananna Videshi Deevena, to disburse 19.95 crore for 200 students

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan will launch the implementation of the Jagananna Videshi Deevena scheme which provides financial assistance to poor students belonging to SC, ST, BC, minority and other castes in the state to pursue higher education in top universities around the world. This year, 213 people who have got admissions in top 200 foreign universities will be given Rs.19.95 crores as the first tranche of aid to the accounts of the beneficiaries by virtually.

According to the scheme, top 200 universities are selected according to QS rankings for quality education. 100% tuition fee reimbursement up to Rs.1.25 crore for SC, ST, BC and Minority students admitted in top 100 universities and 100% tuition fee reimbursement for others upto Rs. 1 crore tuition fee reimbursement will be provided to other castes.

Also, a maximum of Rs.75 lakh for SC, ST, BC and Minority students who get seats in 100 to 200 QS ranking universities. The rest of the students will be paid a maximum of Rs.50 lakh or 50 percent of the tuition fee, whichever is less. The government is also reimbursing the flight and visa charges for students going to foreign universities.
