YS Jagan starts distribution of enhanced elderly pension, flays Naidu and Pawan
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday disbursed the enhanced pensions to the elderly under the YSR Pension Kanuka and started many development works built in the city with a cost of Rs.94 crore through virtual manner.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan emphasised on the fact that his government has increased the pension to Rs.3000, which he believes will bring happiness to the lives of the poor. He stated that no one should be left in a situation where they cannot support themselves, and the government is dedicated to providing pensions for the welfare of 66.34 lakh people.
He further mentioned that the government is spending almost Rs.2000 crores per month on pensions and ensures that pensions are provided on time, whether it is a festival or a holiday.
CM Jagan compares his government's efforts with the previous administration led by Chandrababu, stating that during Chandrababu's regime, the pension was only one thousand rupees. He questioned whether Chandrababu would have increased the pension if Jagan had not made his assurance before the election.
CM Jagan underlines that his government is giving pensions to everyone who is eligible, and during Chandrababu's rule, only Rs.58,000 was provided as pension per head and highlighted that they have provided Rs.1.47 lakh in pensions.
He also pointed out that during Chandrababu's era, corruption was prevalent, and people had to pay bribes to receive their pensions. He reiterated that under his government, pension distribution is impartial and not based on political affiliations.
CM Jagan went on to criticize both Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan, stating that they made several promises in 2014 but failed to fulfill them. He brings up the issue of three cents of land promised to the poor, claiming that not a single cent was given. He questions why Pawan Kalyan, Chandrababu's adopted son, did not speak about latter's corruption and accused Pawan Kalyan of keeping silent complicit on Chandrababu's corruption.
