AP Government, it may be recalled, has had a few hiccups in the recent times over issues like the scrapping of the Legislative Council. the issue of State Election Commissioner has also run into hurdles after the Government removed the incumbent Commissioner, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar using its powers to reduce the tenure. The latter had gone to the High Court and got the order scrapped by the Court.

Both the issues are prestigious for the Government which feels it should have a say in those matters. Moreover, Nimmagadda is said to have taken arbitrary decisions favouring the Opposition and against the interests of the Government.

Another important issue that has cropped up in the recent time is the river waters sharing issue with Telangana with the latter opposing the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project proposed by the Government at a cost of Rs 6,800 crore. The attitude of the Krishna River Management Board which is said to be favouring Telangana has become the bone of contention between the two.

In fact, the State Government which proclaimed that it would "do as Telangana has done" by lifting the waters at 800 ft of Srisailam project, has also complained about the several projects taken up by the Telangana Government in the recent past without any approvals and against the provisions of the AP Bifurcation Act, 2014.
