YSR zero interest scheme will benefit 14.5 lakh farmers: Minister Kannababu

Kakinada: Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu stated that 14.5 lakh farmers will get benefited under YSR Zero Interest scheme to the tune of Rs 510.30 crore across the state.

While speaking to media along with MP Vanga Geetha here on Sunday, the Minister said that as per the commitment in the manifesto, the farmers who took crop loans in Kharif season 2019 and cleared the loans within one year would be entitled to free interest loan on November 17.

The Minister said that between June and September, 93,908 hectares of agriculture and horticulture crops damaged in the state. As many as 1,70,266 farmers suffered huge losses. He said that Rs 136.14 crore input subsidy has been released for the loss incurred in the months of June, July and August.

He said that a sum of Rs 825 crore has been released to benefit the farmers so far. He said that to control the price of the onion and mitigate the scarcity, an amount of Rs 60 crore was released.
