YSRCP bribing voters through Paytm wallet, alleges TDP

Amaravati: It seems, the advent of technology is being used by political parties to transfer money to bribe voters during the elections. A fresh complaint by the TDP to the Election Commission against the YSRCP has revealed new trends in bribing - Vote for Note.

Generally, almost all political parties in the State have been following an illegal tradition during the elections, that is bribing voters just before the actual polling date. They offer money to the voters in the name of giving voter slips to them. But, now the trend seems to be shifting to digital currency, apart from the traditional system of bribing the voters.

The TDP lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the YSRCP leaders were distributing money through Paytm wallet. TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah said in his complaint stated that, "YSRCP opened multiple cash accounts in Paytm Wallet.

Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, his advisor Prashant Kishore, party leaders Vijender, Ramu P and others in collusion with the management of the Paytm Payments Bank have been operating these transactions.

A sum of Rs 1500 per transaction is being done on the head of Team Jagananna Added Rs 1500 as cashback in Paytm Wallet." He said that it was against to the Model Code of Conduct and is a punishable offence under IPC.
