YSRCP govt directs officials to prepare master plan to provide drinking water for Visakhapatnam
Andhra Pradesh: The government of Andhra Pradesh, which is contemplating for development of Visakhapatnam city in order to make Visakhapatnam the administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh has ordered to prepare master plan. As part of this, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy held a review meeting with local authorities. As Vishakha becomes the administrative capital, officials have been instructed to focus on drinking water resources accordingly. It is estimated that the population of GVMC will increase by 30 per cent as the capital and industrial sector is likely to grow. The authorities are advised to create a master plan on drinking water for future purposes in view of the future. The MP said the plan should be prepared without causing any problems to the people and the government.
Speaking at the meeting, Visakha-in-charge Minister Kannababu said that Chief Minister YS Jagan said that welfare schemes are being implemented during the year. CM Jagan said that he had achieved 90 per cent of the promises made within the year. Visakha Drinking Water Master Plan has to be prepared to meet future needs and the administrative capital of Visakhapatnam will increase the population.
On the other hand, Visakha MP MVV Satyanarayana said in the review that he had taken the problem to the attention of CM YS Jagan. He said that CM pointed out that they should address the drinking water needs by setting up pipelines from Godavari to Vishakhapatnam. The project is expected to meet drinking water needs until 2050. He said that if the project is implemented soon, the city of Vishakha would have no drinking water problem.
