YSRCP Govt exploring various options to come out from power crisis
Amaravati: After realising the power problem and associated negative impact, the YSRCP government has initiated damage control measures. In this process, it approached the union government to explore various possible options to overcome from power crisis in the state.
Praveen Prakash, Principal Secretary to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, met Anil Kumar Jain, Coal Secretary, union government in Monday in New Delhi and apprised thre alarming situation of shutting down of 2000 MW Thermal Power plants of AP Genco. This shut down is due to non supply of coal by Coal India Ltd, he informed.
Both the governments have discussed on various issues relating to shortage of coal supply to AP Gencos. Coal India officials will meet with the officials of APGENCO and Railways on Tuesday at Kolkata.
Inter-ministerial meeting scheduled with Ministry of Coal, Railways, Power and Coal India Limited with APGENCO officials in Delhi on Thursday. Like Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, APGENCO has to explore possibilities of buying coal from Central Coal fields.
APGENCO will explore possibilities of buying surplus coal available in the mines of Odisha GENCO. APGENCO will identify private power companies such as Jindal Power in Odisha and buy coal from such companies through the clause that allows private firms to sell 25% of its production to open market through Coal India.
