YSRCP honoured its promise: Dy Speaker
Guntur: Assembly Deputy Speaker Kona Raghupati said that the government is extending financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to auto and cab drivers to keep up its election promise under the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme.
Launching the scheme along with Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fishing and Marketing Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao at a programme in Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram here on Friday, he urged the auto and cab drivers to use the financial assistance for maintenance of autos and to pay insurance premiums.
He said the government was extending financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to 1.73 lakh auto and cab drivers in the state. Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao urged the auto drivers to properly use the financial assistance to be extended by the government and added the government had provided 4 lakh jobs within a short period and selling onions in Rythu Bazaars at Rs 25 a kg for the convenience of consumers.
District Collector I Samuel Anand Kumar said the district officials found 13,992 auto and cab drivers were eligible for assistance under the Vahana Mitra scheme.
Later Kona Raghupati, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, MP N Suresh, Samuel Anand Kumar and MLA Mastan Vali distributed financial assistance sanctioning letters to the auto and cab drivers.
