YSRCP name lands in controversy
Amaravati: YSRCP is facing its name problem. Generally, leaders struggle to name the party before establishing it. But, in the case of YSRCP, the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is facing party identity crisis after the one-year ruling. The Anna YSR Congress Party founder-president Sk Mahaboob Basha approached the Election Commission of India on Wednesday, objecting the usage of acronym YSR Congress Party in the letterheads of the ruling party. Basha revealed that the ECI clearly instructed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress party not to use its acronym.
In fact, the entire episode started when the YSRCP General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy issued a show-cause notice to the party Narasapuram Lok Sabha member K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju on June 23. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju questioned that how could Vijayasai Reddy issue the show cause notice and on which authority. He also went to the ECI and lodged a complaint by saying that the party did not constitute the Disciplinary Committee so far and in violation of the rules governing the political parties, Vijayasai Reddy used the letterhead of another political party to threaten him.
At this juncture, the Anna YSR Congress Party founder-president demanded the ECI to cancel the registration of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party, since they misused his party name.
Meanwhile, the ruling party leaders informed that the party will request the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla to disqualify the membership of Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, as the one week time given to him was expired to respond on the show cause notice.
