Update: 2019-11-14 20:59 IST

Amaravati: The ruling YSR Congress Party dubbed the Sand Deeksha of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu as fake Deeksha. YSRCP said that it was undertaken by him only to gain political mileage on a day when a major reformative programme of the Government Nadu-Nedu was being launched.

Speaking to media at separate media conferences, party MLAs K Parthasaradhi, Vasantha Krishna Prasad and K Anil Kumar said that the fast of Chandrababu Naidu was fake and sans any genuine objective other than eking out political mileage.

They said that Chandrababu Naidu was shedding crocodile tears for a non-issue of sand scarcity and called the TDP leaders sand bakasuras who have devoured it during the TDP regime.

Chandrababu Naidu was true when he claims that he was turning the crisis to suit his ends. He said that Naidu and his henchmen had made best use of the crisis created from the division of the state by looting the state in the past five years, they said.

MLA K Parthasarathy said that a Blue Frog Mobile Technologies hacked the state government's Mana Sand portal to create a misimpression that there was sand scarcity in the state. He said it was a known fact that the company was very close to Chandrababu Naidu during his five-year regime and he was responsible for getting Blue Frog company to hack the government portal to disseminate falsehood.

Vasantha Krishna Prasad said there was a delay in the supply of sand due to floods. He said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was governing the state in a transparent manner and brought out a new sand policy which envisages curtailment of hoarding of sand by taking a decision to jail hoarders for two years and impose a fine of Rs 2 lakh. He said while the government started Sand Week to make sand available to the people without any problem, it was a matter of shame that Chandrababu Naidu has started a fast by claiming that there was scarcity of sand.

The MLA said the corrupt practices of the TDP leaders in stealing lakhs of tonnes of sand were brought to light by the YSR Congress government. Going on fast for frivolous things was like a game for Naidu and his followers, he said and added they were going on fast to lose weight but not for any genuine cause.

MLA Kaila Anil Kumar said it was a known fact how TDP leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao plundered sand reaches across the Krishna river banks and how the Green Tribunal had imposed a fine on the TDP government for it. He alleged that the erstwhile TDP government had not implemented a single welfare scheme and had to face the wrath of the people by winning only 23 seats in the elections.

The MLA said Naidu was making baseless allegations against the State Government which was working for the welfare of the people and implementing a sand policy that was foolproof.
