Amaravati: TDP national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Friday condemned the demolition of the statue of their party founder NT Rama Rao at Dosakayapalli village in Korukonda mandal of East Godavari district.

Lokesh blamed the YSRCP leaders for this untoward incident and asserted that the legacy that was left by NTR could never be wiped out with narrowminded acts of vandalism. It was obvious that the YSRCP gangsters were now targeting the statues of great personalities like NTR after they could not continue their attacks on the temples.

In a statement here, Nara Lokesh termed it as unfortunate that Chief Minister JaganMohan Reddy remained unreasonably obstinate and unchanging despite the rising public resentment against his government's decisions. The people as well as the courts were rejecting his policies, but he was still unyielding. Jagan has become another name for anarchy.

Stating that the YSRCP had no respect for the Constitution and for the great personalities, Lokesh asserted that nobody can erase the memory of NTR. It was the TDP founder who brought self-respect and national and global recognition to the Telugu speaking people. NTR was also known for making pioneering efforts to usher in a new era of welfare programmes like the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme and also property rights for women.

Lokesh expressed concern that the Chief Minister was keeping silent despite over 140 attacks that had taken place on temples across the State. Almost all major temples came under attack. The cutting off of the head of Shri Rama idol at Ramatheertham temple hurt the sentiments of devotees all over the country and abroad. But the Chief Minister did not come forward to condemn the incident.

Lokesh deplored that the State Police could not crack even a single case relating to the temple desecrations. Some police officials were conniving with the YSRCP leaders and they were solely busy with filing false cases and making false arrests of the Opposition leaders. The real culprits behind the temple attacks were not being arrested. For strange reasons, the YSRCP leaders stopped the temple attacks and they started targeting the statues of great leaders.

Objecting to the ruling party's 'anti-people' activities, Lokesh warned the YSRCP leaders that they would have to pay a heavy price for all their misdeeds and atrocities.
