YSRCP, TDP trying to pass blame on BJP

Tirupati: BJP national secretary Y Satya Kumar accused the ruling YSR Congress Party and the opposition TDP of turning Polavaram project into a political issue to hit BJP.

Speaking at a function held here to felicitate him on the occasion of his reappointment as BJP national secretary and also his elevation as co-in-charge for UP BJP and party in-charge for Andaman Nicobar Islands here on Friday, Satya Kumar said that both the parties unmindful of their failures with the regard to Polavaram project completion were trying their best to pass the blame for the delay on to BJP to make it unpopular.

Without mincing words, he said the project turned as an ATM for both the parties who inflated the total cost of the project, including increasing extent of land acquired for the project so as to derive amount from the Centre, and asserted that it was the corruption coupled with the failure of the two parties that was delaying the project and BJP was in no way responsible. In fact, the project was conceived long back in 1980 and in 2005, canal works were taken up when the BJP was not in power at the Centre or state, he said to assert that BJP is no way responsible for Polavaram project delay.

Continuing his attack on Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said the attacks on Hindu temples were on the rise while other religious propaganda was in full swing in the state after YSRCP came to power. "Whether it is intentional or inability, the attacks on Hindu temples remain unabated," he said adding that his party was dubbed communal for voicing its concern over attacks on Hindu temples.

He further said Tirupati-Tirumala is the most sacred place for Hindus world over but the painful incidents coming out, citing the recent incidents in SVBC in which it was found porn material was forwarded.

Also, it was the place from where a person posed as a devout Hindu to get their votes to win the election ultimately leading to a series of attacks on temples and vigorous foreign religion propaganda, he said. Turning the get-together meeting organised by the party activists and friends who are long associated with him as a launch pad for the party campaign for the Tirupati byelection, the BJP national leader made a scathing attack on both ruling YSRCP and TDP criticising them as a family party promoting hereditary politics.

The BJP leader called on the party activists to do their best to ensure the BJP-Jana Sena alliance wins the Tirupati Lok Sabha by election as a present it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an invaluable prize.

In the beginning of his address, Satya Kumar recalled his association with Chittoor district and also his student days in Madanapalli GMR Polytechnic sowing the seed for his political career as student leader.

BJP leaders including party state spokespersons G Bhanu prakash Reddy, S Srinivas, Lok Sabha constituency president S Dayakar Reddy Satya Prakash and friends from various places attended in good number.
