Cop arrested for aiding jewellery shop robbery gang

Bengaluru: A cop who was part of a gang which raided a jewellery shop posing as policemen was arrested on Sunday. The gang took away 300 grams of jewellery at Geeta Jewellery shop in Nagpurpet. A case was registered at the Ulsoor Gate police station and the gang was arrested. During the investigation it was learnt that the gang was supported by two police constables to conduct raids. "As soon as a complaint was registered at Ulsoor Gate Police station our team acted immediately and arrested a gang of six members who were involved in the raid. During the investigation it was learnt that two constables attached to Kadugodi police station identified as Ashok and Chowdegowda were also involved with these seven- member team. We have now taken Ashok into custody. Chowdegowda is absconding," said a senior police official.

According to the reports, the accused were identified as Suraj Yadav, Sheikh Mohammed, Sandeep, Ashok, Syed Feroz and Nadeem.
