Fit India Cyclothon gets thumbs up from Bengalureans
Bengaluru: The cold weather in Bengaluru failed to hold back cycling enthusiasts from participating in "Fit India Cyclothon 2020", organised by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in association with National Urban Health Mission and Bangalore Smart City Ltd . Braving chilly weather, hundreds of bicycle lovers took part in "Fit India Cyclothon", at Cubbon Park, an initiative with the slogan "Take a step towards fitness" and "Pedal your way to fitness".
BBMP administrator Gaurav Gupta and BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad flagged off the event and peddled inside the park along with the participants. The motive of the showpiece event was to attract the youth towards fitness during winter and give them a platform. The participants were happy to come out and participate in sporting activities after the COVID-induced lockdown. The event commence at 7:00 am at the Cubbon Park Gate (Hudson Circle) and moved towards Chinnaswamy Stadium (Queens Road), GPO Circle, the Rajbhavan Road, Chalukya Circle, Dr. Amebedkar veedhi (Via MS Building), KR Circle, Nrupathunga Road and back to Cubbon Park Gate (Hudson Circle).
The campaign was launched with an aim to promoting physical and mental health of citizens.
"It's good to see people stepping out to take part in the fitness event and maintaining physical distance," said participant.
