Government orders probe into suicide bid by CM's political secy
Bengaluru: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday ordered a detailed inquiry into the alleged suicide attempt by N. R. Santosh, political secretary to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. This comes a day after Karntaka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivkumar alleged foul play behind the suicide attempt by Santosh and demanded a thorough inquiry.
"It is no secretary that all is not well in the Karnataka BJP. I demanded an impartial inquiry. I welcome Bommai's decision to order a detailed probe into Santosh's suicide attempt case. Inquiry is very important because suicide attempt by CM's political secretary is a very serious matter," said Sivakumar.
According to the reports, Santosh is recovering at a private hospital here.
The Home Minister in his statement said Shivakumar should hand over to the police the videos which the Congress leader claimed were the reason for the suicide attempt by Santosh. The KPPC chief alleged that a minister and an MLC sent some intimate videos to Santosh leading to his suicide attempt.
Reacting to this, Shivakumar said, "I did not name any BJP leader in my statement but suddenly many of them started reacting to this, It seems many are scared. I just mentioned as per the inside information, that a 'confidential' video was distributed by Chief Minister's political secretary Santosh to an MLC and a minister. Later, it was given to the BJP high command.
That MLC and minister both were blackmailing the Chief Minister and the leaders in government. It has been happening for the last several months. Now I expect it should be a clean inquiry," DKS added.
