New Year celebrations prohibited in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In order to contain the spread of Covid, Commissioner of Police and Additional District Magistrate, Kamal Pant has issued prohibitory orders (Sec 144) within the limits of Benglauru city from 6 pm of December 31 to 6 am of January 1, 2021.
Gathering of five or more people and celebration of New Year on public roads is strictly prohibited. The circular of the government prohibits any form of gathering in public places, main roads, open spaces for the purpose of any celebration of New Year.
"No New Year celebrations of any type, involving a large gathering shall be held in any open place like park, grounds etc. However, in-house celebrations in residential complexes and private cubs may be held for their residents and members respectively without organising any special events.
Hotels, malls, restaurants, clubs, pubs or club houses or any similar type of establishments holding New Year's celebrations shall not organise any special DJ events, shows, programmes or performances, music nights, musical bands or dance programmes etc. However, they may carry out their regular business activity, including music within permissible decibels following Covid-19 protocol." the circular from the police commissioner read.
"No-man' zones will be created at MG Road, Church Street, Brigade Road, Koramangala and Indiranagar; only those with advance reservation coupons for pubs, bars, restaurants will be allowed," Pant said.
The circular reads that anybody who feels adversely affected by the order, a petition can be filed to the commissioner of Police's officer or the state government.
