Vijay Diwas: Writing contest on martyrs

With an aim to inculcate the glorious history of the Indian armed forces and make the children aware about the war heroes, Honourpoint, an online memorial to honour and appreciate the fallen soldiers, is conducting "Jaya Hey"- Vijay Diwas Fest. December 16 is Vijay Diwas, the day marks India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.

The man behind Honourpoint, Wing Commander (RETD) MA Afraz says, "The intended aim of this fest is to create awareness about the fallen heroes of our Armed Forces among the college students and inspire them to become worthy Indians. In the current uncertain times there is a greater need to spread positivity and motivate the young minds so that they evolve into socially conscious citizens and think of the nation in whatever they do."

The participants are expected to cover the life story of fallen heroes in independent India. The article could cover the inspirational journey of the martyrs with details about their personal life as well as their heroic deeds.

"There is a lack of awareness among the young generation about the significance of the contribution of these heroes of our Armed Forces to our nation's history."

"The military history is an integral part of our nation's history and these soldiers have played a vital role in shaping the history of our nation. They are the real heroes and their inspirational stories need to be known by the young Indians to appreciate the value of freedom. This appreciation will inspire them to contribute to the nation in whichever way they can," he adds.
