After Swiggy, Zomato to start home delivery of liquor

After Swiggy, the online food delivery app Zomato has reportedly launched home delivery of alcohol. However, the e-commerce food app to begin its services in Jharkhand later it would extend to other states.

"With due permissions and licences in place, we are starting home delivery of alcohol in Jharkhand," the Gurugram-based company has said. "We will go live in Ranchi later today and seven other cities in Jharkhand over the next couple of days."

It is a known fact that amid lockdown, the two core business has hit badly and hence they have diversified into grocery deliveries. It is notified that the customers would have to submit proof of age to place an order for liquor.

After a ban on liquor sales on March 24 following the coronavirus outbreak, the government lifted the ban in May, which led to massive turn up to stores hence several states suggested home delivery as an option.
