Airbus keen to mentor startups in Telangana
Hyderabad: European aircraft manufacturing major Airbus on Thursday announced that it was keen on mentoring startups in Telangana.
"We do little manufacturing works with Tatas in Hyderabad. We also do a small amount of component manufacturing. Majority of people we have here are on design and technology side. However, we are looking at multiple opportunities to expand our operations in Hyderabad," Anand Stanley, President and Managing Director, Airbus India & South Asia, told the media here.
He said Airbus was in talks with the Telangana government to expand its operations in the city. "We are talking to the government of Telangana on how to take up our 'Innovate in India' initiative and mentor startups. We can also work with the government on urban mobility including taxis and helicopters, air ambulances," he elaborated.
Pointing out that Airbus was the largest defence company in Europe, he said: "We believe that opportunities will come up for us with India in the areas of defence and helicopters which we hope would result in setting up operations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under 'Make in India' initiative," he said.
