New Delhi: Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said on Tuesday that India Inc will rise to the occasion to counter "the Chinese provocation" that not many Indian goods are manufactured.

Mahindra, in his Twitter post, said that the comment from the Editor-in-Chief of a Chinese government mouthpiece, Global Times, could well be the most "effective and motivating rallying cry" which Indian industry had ever received.

Mahindra thanked the Global Times editorial head for the taunt, adding "thank you for the provocation. We will rise to the occasion."

The tycoon was referring to a jibe by the Global Times Editor-in-Chief that even if Chinese chose to boycott Indian products, they would not find many in China, adding that Indians needed more important things than nationalism.

The Centre on Monday banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, WeChat, SHAREit, UC Browser and Xiaomi's Mi Community citing issues of national security. India-China bilateral relations nosedived after 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a violent clash with PLA soldiers in the Galwan Valley of Eastern Ladakh on the intervening night of June 15-16.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued a list of 59 Chinese apps that are now banned in the country. The Ministry, in a statement, said

"These measures have been undertaken since there is credible information that these apps are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order."
