BSNL launches 4G services in TS
Hyderabad: State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched its 4G services in Telangana Circle here on Friday.
Announcing the launch, V Sundar, CGM, Telangana Telecom Circle, said that the 4G services are being launched in in about 46 stations, covering all the district headquarters (except Hyderabad city and Ranga Reddy) and other important towns. "The 4G customers of BSNL can now experience amazing data speeds in the range of 20 Mbps to 30 Mbps," he said.
"Under the Phase VIII GSM project, totally about 409 nos of 4G towers have been planned with 2G and 3G expansions with total cost of Rs 123 crore. Out of 409 of 4G towers planned, already 268 of 4G towers have already been commissioned as on date. Remaining 140 4G towers shall be commissioned before the end of May 2019," Sundar said.
Sundar went on to add, "To start with, 4G services were initially launched in Peddapalli, on March 31, 2019 and progressively all other stations in Telangana Circle. Out of 33 district headquarters in the State, the 4G services have already been launched so far in 32 stations including 19 district headquarters."
To avail the 4G services, the existing smartphone customers of BSNL have to get their existing SIMs swapped with 4G SIMs at free of cost at all BSNL customer service centres, franchisees / retailer outlets at the stations, where the 4G services are being launched, he added.
