Budget session 2020: President Ram Nath Kovind addresses Parliament, lauds CAA
The Budget Session of Parliament has started with the President Ram Nath Kovind's address on Friday. Earlier, Ram Nath Kovind, who left to parliament was greeted by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Speaker of the Lok Sabha at the Parliament premises.
The President in his speech called on the people to fulfil the wishes of Gandhi, Ambedkar and Nehru and asserted that the government had brought the new laws for a better India. He said it is time for us to come together to take the nation forward.
The President in his address has referred to the CAA and opined that Mahatma Gandhi's wish of bringing CAA has come to force on the special day of his death anniversary.
On the other hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the budget in the parliament on Saturday. In the meantime, the opposition parties have held a meeting o chalk out the strategy to be adopted in the budget sessions. The first phase of budget sessions will be held until February 11. The opposition leaders have taken a protest against government policies in the precincts of parliament.
