Duroflex Mattresses to expand Medchal plant
Hyderabad: Duroflex Mattresses, a Kerala-based mattress brand, on Thursday said it will expand its manufacturing facility at an investment of Rs 40 crore, in Medchal, Telangana, by end of this year. On Thursday, the brand launched an orthopedic mattress range in the city.
In 2018, Duroflex Mattresses established a manufacturing plant at Medchal in TS, with a capacity of 500 mattresses per day. It had raised Rs 160 crore around the end of 2018, which was utilised for expanding business, innovating new products etc. "Hyderabad as a market for branded mattresses is gaining speed thanks to growing IT sector. At present, both the Telugu states contribute about 20 percent of the business. Hence, by end of this year, we are looking at increasing our manufacturing capacity to a total of 1,000 mattresses per day from the Medchal plant," the president of Duroflex Pvt Ltd, J Mohanraj told reporters here.
With the expansion in place, Duroflex would be doubling the workforce from the current 75 employees to a total of 150. From the existing six manufacturing units, Duroflex produces 2,000 mattresses each day, the president said, adding that this capacity will be increased by up to 20-25 per cent by next year, with the setting up of seventh manufacturing plant at either Maharashtra or Gujarat.
In addition, Duroflex Mattresses launched a new range of orthopedic mattress, called as Duropedic, certified by the National Health Academy. The mattress is available under five categories, in the price range of Rs 7,500 to Rs 50,000.
