GMR to operate Bidar airport

Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited on Monday said it has entered an agreement with the government of Karnataka to operate the airport at Bidar in North Karnataka.

The operations are expected to start in the first week of February 2020. Post which, one daily flight connecting Bidar with Bengaluru will be operational.

SGK Kishore, Executive Director – South, GMR Airports and CEO - GHIAL, said: "The operationalisation of Bidar airport is a testimony to our commitment to support the government of India's flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme. We are pleased to partner with the government of Karnataka."

GHIAL has signed the concession agreement to commission, operationalise and maintain the Civilian Enclave at the Airport. It falls under the government of India's Regional Connectivity – UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme.

"We are confident that the start of commercial operations at Bidar will provide a boost to the local economy through better connectivity for the people here and the large number of tourists who visit this area," Kishore added.
