Holds hackathon in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hexagon Capability Centre India (HCCI), the Indian arm of Sweden's Hexagon AB, on Monday announced winners of its 24-hour hackathon called 'Hexathon' organised in the city over the weekend.

Over 250 teams comprising 800 individuals including 500 students, 60 external corporate participants and 250 internal employees submitted their ideas for the same.

Out of that, top selected 136 teams battled it out for to claim the 'winner' position and three 'distinctive Ideas' positions.

The hackathon was aimed solving day-to-day challenges with focus on five core themes - smart city, smart agriculture, smart factories, smart office and water management.

Telangana government supported the initiative in which Team Yodha from Malla Reddy Engineering College for Women, Hyderabad, was declared winner for a smart voting system using blockchain technology. The winners of distinctive ideas segment include City Hats, Geeks 3.0, Middle Benchers and Hawk's Eye.

Navaneet Mishra, Vice President & Country Manager, HCCI, said: "Hexathon's success is a clear indicator of the strength of the city's IT community's shared passion in bringing technology and data together - to create awareness & solutions for global challenges.

Importantly, Government's encouragement and support in this endeavour will pave the way for collaborative outcomes, he added.
