VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity

VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity and the term VUCA has been coined by the students at the U.S. Army War College in the 1990s to describe how the world is after the cold war. The idea of VUCA has been accepted by all to describe the nature of the world and it has been adopted by various organizations, industries and other sectors.

With each passing day, there are major changes in the world and it is very difficult to estimate the changes that are taking place and the cause and effect forces. So, coming to business, the entire landscape is so different and can say today's business environment as a complicated landscape. Understanding the concept of VUCA and implementing in the business arena would definitely give success to the organizations.

Sometimes, in a system, we get to see unpredictable events and that can have either a positive or negative impact. A product going viral and becoming the talk of the town is a fine example for positive complexity. Whereas a Tunisian fruit vendor, Mohamed Bouazizi setting himself ablaze on December 17, 2010, as he was frustrated over the treatment of the society towards him and lost hope, is an example for negative complexity.

The entire incident was captured on mobiles and the news spread across the globe. This led to riots and twenty-eight days after Mohamed's self-immolation, the Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has been stepped down after 23 years in power and fled to Saudi Arabia.

There are many such incidents which have created a sensation in the world and if there is less accessibility to the social media then there would have been less chances for the entire world to know about the information.
