Ever since he left the NDB office, banker KV Kamath's name is making the headlines for being the next in line to replace India's current finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Now, while there are strong rumours that FM Nirmala Sitharaman is on her way out, not much is known about the frontrunner to replace her.   1. KV Kamath hails from Karnataka. He was born in the year India got its independence
  2. He did his PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad
  3. KV Kamath was the chief of NDB (New Development Bank) of BRICS countries
  4. The veteran banker took over as Infosys Chairman from Narayana Murthy.
  5. KV Kamath was also the non-executive chairman of ICICI Bank
  6. On Houston based oil services company board, KV Kamath was an independent director
  7. His name came up during the CBI probe of two bank loan fraud cases. One of them was a loan lent to Prannoy Roy (NDTV) who borrowed on behalf of a shell company and made away with Rs 40 crores. This was under Congress finance minister P Chidambaram. He now reportedly owns a huge house in South Africa's Cape Town. His name is also linked to tainted ICICI bank CEO Chanda Kochchar's loans, which sparked major controversy.
  8. KV Kamath is also said to be close to the Ambanis. Now, the reason his name is making the rounds is reportedly because of this. KV Kamath had lent huge loans to Dhirubhai Ambani.
