World Bank will give India $ 500 million loan, Is it worth taking only for education sector?

New Delhi: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved a $ 500 million loan to improve quality and governance in the field of school education in six states of the country.

The World Bank said in a statement issued here today that this approval has been made in the recent meeting of its board of executive directors. This will benefit 25 crore students and one crore teachers in the age group of 6 to 17 years studying in 15 lakh schools in six states of the country. This amount has been approved for the Streatening Teaching - Learning and Results for States Program (STARS).

This program has been in operation since 1994 with the participation of Bhart and World Bank. Even before its commencement, the World Bank has given more than three billion dollars to improve education. The bank said that the holistic education program is being conducted at the national level and it aims to bring qualitative improvement in the education sector in Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan.
