After Taapsee Pannu, Huma Qureshi Becomes The Victim Of High Electricity Bill

It was just yesterday we saw Bollywood diva Taapsee Pannu showing off her anger on Adani Group for billing huge amount of current bill. She dropped the electricity bill copies of her home which was vacant from two months. Even though she received Rs 36000 as the bill which made her go awestruck.

Now, it's the turn of Huma Qureshi… Even this Bollywood lass complained of receiving inflated electricity bill. Huma took her Twitter account and questioned the Adani group about the new electricity rates.

In this tweet, Huma stated that, she received an electricity bill of Rs 50,000 for the month of June. She also mentioned that, her last month bill was Rs 6000 and raised her question about the new price surge.

This tweet has been liked by many Twitterites and a few Bollywood actors like Ranvir Shorey and Amyra Dastur added their comments too.

Ranvir Shorey commented on this tweet and doled out: "The 21st century, a free market and a pandemic are apparently not enough for us to still be held to ransom by electric power companies like @Adani_Elec_Mum #scam #shame."

Even Amyra Dastur added a few words to the comments section, "I freaking shifted to my mom and dad's house in April! They've been charging my flat which I haven't lived in for 3 months, double of what I would pay actually living there! Mine is best. Do you know how to stop this nonsense?"

Well, Adani Group has released a statement on this issue and tried to calm the users with their note… Adani Group officials mentioned that, the bills are so high as they are collecting the arrears for the last three months' electricity bills which were charged with low rate due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The spokesperson of Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) tried to explain the problem, "We have re-started physical meter reading which was temporarily halted since March because of Covid-19. Bills were generated on the lower side, being an average of preceding three months that is, December, January and February, which are winter months. Actual consumption in the months of April, May and June is comparatively higher due to seasonal impact (summer) and increased usage (the advent of Lockdown/WfH),".

"The bill amount for the past period shall be accounted as per the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) guidelines. The consumers will start receiving the bills based on their actual consumption with appropriate tariff slab benefits." he added.
