Priyanka Chopra paints Toronto Pink
"I hope they give us a standing ovation," a hopeful Priyanka Chopra had told the media before the screening of her film The Sky is Pink at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Well, dreams do come true!
"When she emerged from her car, onlookers were yelling out her name. She was wearing a black and white ruffled gown and went to greet her fans first. Farhan Akhtar was there with his girlfriend Shibani Dandekar as well, making his first big international public appearance with her. Ten years ago, her film What's Your Raashee also premiered at TIFF, and this came after a decade," says a source. Director Shonali Bose was aptly dressed in pink for the moment, very much like Shibani who wore a lighter shade.
The film also had another screening which again got a standing ovation. "A lot of people who saw the film were in tears after watching the film and went up to Priyanka and congratulate her on her performance as well. It is actually Priyanka's best performance till date," adds our source.
Priyanka had previously said about the film in a statement, "The Sky Is Pink is a story of love and hope and I think it will resonate with everyone at some level. We've all faced loss, and this movie shows us how to celebrate the life of your loved one, instead of mourning their death. I knew playing Aditi Chaudhary was going to be challenging and portraying her journey on screen has been really special. As co-producer, I'm so proud to be a part of making a film like this."
The Sky is Pink is the heartfelt journey of the love of a couple spanning 30 years, told from the perspective of their recently deceased daughter Aisha Chaudhary.
Apart from Priyanka and Farhan, the film also stars the recently retired actress Zaira Wasim (who plays the titular role), and Rohit Saraf.
