Shahid Kapoor's Jersey Hindi Remake Theatrical Distribution Rights Sold
Shahid Kapoor is on a roll. His previous movie Kabir Singh which also starred Kiara Advani was a blockbuster and set new benchmarks at the box office. In fact, the Hindi version of the Telugu original became a bigger hit and also collected much more.
For the unversed, Kabir Singh was the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy which is being considered a cult hit and starred Tollywood youth icon Vijay Deverakonda. Shahid was on cloud nine over the success of his movie. In one of the interviews, Deverakonda said that he didn't want to watch the remake despite the fact that it was a bigger hit than his and was receiving a lot of praise from the audience.
Shahid's upcoming movie is again a remake of another Telugu movie, Jersey. The movie was directed by Gautham Thinnanuri and starred Nani and Shraddha Srinath in key roles. The sports drama was based on the life of Indian cricketer Raman Lamba. The movie was a superhit and Tollywood Natural Star came in for a lot of appreciation for his performance.
The Hindi version of Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor is expected to release in theatres sometime in August 2020. Considering what a huge hit the movie was, there was a lot of demand for the rights of the Hindi remake. Now, we hear that the makers have sold the theatrical distribution rights to Rakesh Sippy for a whopping amount.
