The under-production Tamil film ' Laabam' has a lot of firsts. One among them is the star cast – of Vijay Sethupathi and ShrutiHaasan in the lead roles. As of now its release schedule is fixed for December this year but coronavirus can surely change all that.

The cinematographer for this film, Ramji, is known for his multi-lingual work in nearly 20 films spread over as many years. He is from the school of P C Sriram, the cinematographer who was a rage of southern cinema throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. In his recent assignments, he was seen in the 2015 hit 'O K Bangaram'.

Part of the 1970s film group which had members like Kamal Haasan, Sriram's work is a case study for many aspiring cinematographers in the country. Ramji also reminisces the feedback he used to receive for his films from his guru, which were very inspiring. As the disciple says, it was very unusual in those days to allow an assistant to graduate as a full-fledged professional when he desires. It was Sriram who used to encourage and bless his assistants to do well, he recollected in an interview to a Tamil magazine.
