Kamal's first producer passes away

From a child artiste to a full-fledged hero, Kamal Haasan moved effortlessly into the big league in the early 1970s. Though it is popularly known that he was mentored and launched as a full-fledged hero by director K Balachander in the mid-1970s, it was actually a producer by name Raghunathan who had made him a hero in his film 'Pattampoochi'. This film, released in 1975 had Jayachitra as Kamal's heroine and was a box-office success.

Very notably, the filmography of the star reveals that he had 14 multi-lingual releases in the same year, which is a very high proportion of releases for a newcomer.

Maintaining the momentum, over the past 45 years, Kamal has starred in over 220 films in many languages. Yet the launch pad is a matter of sentiment, which is highly revered in the film world. Incidentally, 1975 also happens to be the launch year of Rajinikanth too.
