Mani Ratnam planning a quick love story?
Chennai press reports are buzzing with news that Mani Ratnam may be planning to come up with a quick romantic film as a short-term venture to use the dates of his stars, as his ' Ponniyin Selvan' is temporarily stalled.
The historical film bug had bitten Tamil cinema too when Mani Ratnam announced his two-part magnum opus ' Ponniyin Selvan' last year. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, till the time last reports came in, the film had completed shooting schedules in Ramoji Film City and also in Thailand.
With the coronavirus impacting its progress and with the retinue of stars about to move into other projects of their own as per their call sheets, Ratnam seems to be in a bind. With a new film, he thinks he can come back into circulation. The buzz is that Arvind Swamy may be the hero in a story surrounding the life of a middle-aged man. Pre-production work is in progress, say Chennai circles.
