Netflix Grabs Vijay Sethupathi's Labham Digital Streaming Rights?

Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan starrer "Labham" was in the news recently. Shruti Haasan had walked out of the sets of the movie alleging that Vijay Sethupathi and other crew members were not following precautionary measures for coronavirus.

Later, police protection was given to carry out the shooting. Now, the movie "Labham" is back in the news. The movie we hear has been bought by OTT giant Netflix even before the completion of its shooting for a huge amount.

Actor Sethupathi, however, shared on his twitter saying the movie will not have a direct OTT release and that it will release in theatres first.

The movie is in the last leg of its shoot at Krishna Giri. The movie has been sold even before its post-production stage.

It has, however, become common to see kollywood movies entering directly into OTT platforms.

There were protests from owners of theatres when actor Suriya released his wife's movie "Ponmagal Vandaal" via OTT. Later, the actor released his film "Soorarai Pottru" also produced by him through OTT. The movie directed by Sudha Kongara became a hit and earned rave reviews.

Now, it remains to be seen how the theatre owners association will react to the news of the release of Labham via OTT. One more movie by name "Paavam Kathaigal" will also be released on OTT in a few days.
