This director of Kamal, Rajini films was at home for 2 years
Between 1997 and 2003, C Sundar, husband of actress and politician Khushbu was in an enviable position. He had directed Superstar Rajinikanth in ' Arunachalam', released after the humongous hit film 'Baasha' which hit the silver screens across the world in 1995. Post this film which turned out to be successful, he helmed 11 films till the 2003 Pongal release ' Anbe Sivam'. This film which featured Kamal Haasan and Madhavan, a hot star then raised a lot of expectations. Somehow, despite a watchable narrative and interesting performances, the film failed at the BO.
Today, Sundar has had many films which were hits and has made him a successful actor and a director who also is into production in the last three years. Yet, in her tweets, in a response to a follower, Khushbu was frank about his status once the Kamal starrer flopped. As a Tamil daily reports Sundar had to bide his time for nearly two years till his next film, Giri, which he produced was released in October 2004. Hence, it is not always glamorous to have retrospective ratings for films when they don't do well when released, she added.
