Will Chinmayi Be Dubbing Union President?

Update: 2020-01-31 15:26 IST

Singer cum dunning artiste Chinmayi is eyeing a plum post at the Dubbing Union. The South Indian Cine, Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union are expected to hold an election on February 15 for various posts. The current president of the Dubbing Union is Radha Ravi who's eyeing a second term. However, singer Chinmayi we hear is planning to compete against him for the post of president this time. Chinmayi has filed her nomination.

For the uninitiated, the same union had terminated the singer's membership two years ago (2018) over non-payment of the subscription fee. But another theory said that Chinmayi was banned by the union because she supported stories of #metoo victims who accused Vairamuthu and Radha Ravi.

She's the most sought after singer in both Tollywood and Kollywood. However, of late she hasn't been in the news much. The singer even got a stay order from the court last year.

Chinmayi is representing Ramarajiyam team in the elections. She told a leading English daily after filing nomination that the team had been fighting for the cause of its members and had even secured 45% vote in the last elections held in 2018.

It is learnt that several members of the union have objected to her contesting the elections as she is no more a member. Her name has also been struck off voters list recently.

It now remains to be seen if Chinmayi can cross all the hurdles and get the plum post.
