Ponniyin Selvan 2 Makes in ₹38 Crores on Opening Day at Box Office

According to a report by Sacnilk, the second part of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise, directed by Mani Ratnam, made an impressive opening day collection of ₹38 crores across all platforms at the box office. The film earned ₹25 crore on its opening day in Tamil Nadu, while in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, it made a collection of ₹3-5 crore. The first part of the franchise had earned approximately ₹327 crore in India and more than ₹169 crore ($20.70 million) internationally.

The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring renowned names in the Indian entertainment industry, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Parthiban, and Vikram Prabhu. It is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's novels from 1955, portraying the beginning of the Chola dynasty.

Vikram shared in an interview that subtitles have played a significant role in the commercial success of regional films, stating that emotions are universal, and people are now more open to watching subtitled films from various regions of the world. He added that good content is what matters most and transcends language barriers.

Aishwarya also expressed her gratitude for the support and appreciation shown for the movie, stating that they are excited about the release of the second part. She thanked Mani Ratnam for his direction and guidance.
