Karnataka Theatres Betting Big On Vijay's Master To Compensate Losses

Big budget movie producers are still in dilemma about whether they have to release their movies in theatres or not. We just bid goodbye to 2020 and welcomed 2021.

Not just in Sandalwood, movies in none of the industries got released in theatres during 2020. People in the film industry and fans are hoping that some new movies hit theatres from January. The theatres were shut down in March and reopened in the month of October. But government allowed only fifty percent accomodation of available seats in theatres.

But this did not give much dividend to the Producers. Not all theatres are opened in Karnataka due to non availability of new movies. Producers who have spent more than ten crores are hesitating to release their movies due to fifty percent restriction as they hardly get any dividends.

Hence Producers are demanding to allow hundred percent occupancy in theatres. A movie by name 'Master' in which Dalapathi Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi have acted will be shortly released according to the announcement made by its production team.

Actor Vijay had appealed to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to pass orders for cent per cent occupancy in theatres. But the movie will be released regardless of whether government will permit or not. All the theatres have now geared up to face such eventualities. The movies of these actors have got big market in Karnataka also. Hence the distributors in Karnataka also are getting prepared to release the Vijay movie on a grand scale. "We cannot ask for hundred percent occupancy. We follow government directives while releasing movies. We can release Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies only," says Karnataka film distributors.

"We follow film chamber's decisions, rest of the details will be obtained after one more round of talks with the Producers," says proprietor Venkata Ramana of Shri Padma theatre from Hubballi. One meeting of this chamber was held on Monday at Hubballi. It has been decided to open theatres only if there is a continuous flow of movie releases.

In any case, theatre owners are betting big on Thalapathy Vijay's Master to rake in moolah and compensate for their losses. Thalapathy Vijay's Master directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj also stars Malavika Mohanan and Vijay Sethupathi in crucial roles. The film is slated to hit theatres on Pongal.
