Permission To Resume Kannada Movie Shoots Rejected
The government ordered the shutdown of all the activities related to showbiz. Ever since all the production works related to TV and movies have come to a grinding halt. This has created a dent in the movie business. The daily wage workers have been worst hit because of coronavirus lockdown.
Earlier, a few people from the TV serials industry approached the government requesting them for approval to begin production of serials adhering to strict guidelines. The Karnataka government had taken their woes into consideration and given the go ahead. Now, a similar request has been put forth to chief minister BS Yediyurappa and he is said to have responded to the same.
After much deliberation, Minister R Ashok has advised against shooting of movies. Instead the government has given a go ahead to do the pre-production and post-production works of movies.
The producers association and the film chamber of commerce in Karnataka had submitted proposal seeking permission to allow shoot of movies. However, it was rejected by thr government in the wake of coronavirus threat. It is learnt that post-production works of around 100 movies are pending.
