Why Did Celebrity Political Campaigners Skip Farmers' Protests?'

Sandalwood actor Chethan has expressed his anguish about the silence of celebrities over Bharat Bandh that took place on December 8. The nationwide shutdown was called by farmers and labour unions. These unions want the Central government to repeal the new agricultural laws.

"We support the nationwide protests of farmers who have been protesting for many months. But Kannada actors who jump on the bandwagon quickly to canvas for elections have not spoken a word in support of farmers. We the actors...do we have any concern to help farmers! Or are we interested only in supporting rich and affluent class friends?" thus asked Chetan on social media.

It appears Chetan was referring to some actors like Darshan, Amulya, and Khushbu who took part in canvassing for even byelections. Previously, Chetan had supported and participated during many farmers protests. Farmers unions called for nationwide Bandh in protest against three agricultural laws proposed by the Centre.

The Congress, NCP, DMK, SP, Leftists, TRS, and AAP supported the Bandh. Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and UP have already reached the Delhi border. Protests were also arranged at Town hall in Bengaluru by those supporting farmers' stance on farm laws.
