Simran outwits Ramya & Meena?
With one stroke, yesteryear glam diva Simran has surpassed her colleagues like Ramya Krishna, Meena and Sukanya by reportedly demanding Rs 75 lakh to play a mom to young actress in a new film to be made by new producer and director.
"It is well-etched role and it would have been an ideal comeback for Simran in T-town. Actually, we wanted a popular heroine to play mother to a young diva. In fact, the story revolves around the mother and daughter releationship.
Nonetheless, she demanded Rs 75 lakh and we couldn't afford her fancy demand," says a source, close to the unit. The film will be directed by Sanjay M and produced by few NRIs.
"Right now, Ramya Krishna is the sought-after actress for motherly roles, followed by Meena and Sukunya in Telugu and Tamil industries. However, they take Rs 25 to 30 lakh per film, but Simran demanded almost double that amount.
Without realizing that a film is not sold on the name of a character actor, but hero or heroine of the movie," the source adds.
Actually, Simran ruled the roost in T-town by romancing superstars like Chiranjeevi (Daddy), Balakrishna (Samarasimha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu), Nagarjuna (Nuvvu Vasthavani) and Venkatesh (Kalisundam Raa) to be hailed as the glam queen of late 90s and early 2000.
Her last Telugu movie was 'John Apparao 40 plus' as she stopped doing Telugu movies after her marriage. Now, she is looking to play character roles in T'wood.
