Singing comes naturally for 'Crazy Lady'

Aastha Gill is an Indian singer and songwriter who debuted with the party song, "Dhup Chik" from 'Fugly'. She was part of Badshah's dance number, "Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai" from 'Khoobsurat' and lent her voice to "Kamariya" from 'Stree'. She is known for her singles, "DJ Waley Babu", "Buzz", "Video Bana De" and "Naagin".

Owning your crazy has been the mood of the decade. Embodying that very spirit, Sony Music India released Aastha Gill's unique self-love anthem "Crazy Lady". This empowering song is about loving yourself and paying no heed to the detractors who shame you for being crazy.

Singing was always there in her head but was not able to accept it because for her it was not an easy path.

She shares, "With time, I realised nothing is easy, even if I pursue some other career I will have to face challenges so I might as well do what I love. My destiny got me here. I took the leap of faith and I was like let's try this and it worked for me. I love singing more than shooting. Shooting is very hectic and singing just comes from within. Singing comes very naturally to me and with shooting , I am still conscious in front of the camera.

It's fun. I love it too since all the attention is on me and who doesn't like attention. To break my own records was a challenge for me. The first one - "DJ Wale Babu" was a massive hit, so I had this pressure of either delivering something better than that which is most challenging task. Then came 'Buzz' and it was again challenging to break that record. That will always be a challenge and it's good in a way because it helps me to grow."

Crazy Lady is a song with its message about embracing your craziness. Aastha feels it's very important in life to be crazy sometimes to make it big. It does not just mean being silly, it means breaking all your barriers and stereotypes and just going all out with whatever you are.

She shares, "This song is all about that and I feel happy to have co-written it. It is completely based on my life experiences. I am glad that I can tell people that it's okay to be crazy. The idea came from my own life experiences. I used to see my social media, random comments and messages of people who were probably haters. They called me - 'pagal', 'silly', 'jhalli' and yes 'crazy' .

So I was like it's okay if you say that, I own it. It was just a random thought. I wanted to do something totally crazy. That's what my brief was when I met Charan and Kanika and we were working on the song. They asked, "What kind of a song do you want?" I said I want something totally crazy, so we went ahead with "Crazy Lady" and yes I think that worked. "

Aastha visited Hyderabad for a private gig where she says she had the best experience of my life. According to her, the people of the city are crazy when it comes to concerts and gigs.

She adds, "I have been to Hyderabad before and I had amazing experiences, I had a club show a year back or so. I didn't feel like going back home, it was so good. I love the food, being a big time foodie I think that is one thing I look forward to when I go to a city. I love Hyderabadi food, especially the biryani."

Immediately after Crazy Lady, her another song "Hieelien Toot Gayi" released which is with Badshah. It's from the film 'Indu Ki Jawaani' featuring Guru Randhawa, Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal.

"I am pretty sure this year and next year a lot of people are going to be dancing on this one. So I am excited for that one," she concludes.
