30-plus glam divas caught in bind?

Kajal and Tammanah

With glam diva Kajal agreeing to romance 60-plus star Chiranjeevi again in 'Acharya,' she seems to have resolved to work with senior heroes these days. Similarly, Tammanah has romanced Chiranjeevi in 'Sye Raa...' and Venkatesh in 'F2', because offers with new-age stars are drying up slowly, barring her role of a coach in 'Seetimaar'. "Both these divas have romanced most of the gen-next stars like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Ram and now they have to work with 50-plus heroes to stay in the reckoning since they have been in T-town for more than 10 years," says producer Bujji, who claims that they are rejecting more offers these days.

Though their arch rival Samantha has moved towards female-centric movies, these two divas are reluctant to tap into it. "Both Kajal and Tammanah are getting loads of female-centric offers but they are shying away from it. Probably, they believe that doing a lady-oriented movie could halt heroine roles or they are not sure about carrying a film on the strength of their shoulders," adds producer Bandla Ganesh

Adding to their woes, their much-hyped maiden female-centric movies 'Paris Paris' (Kajal) and 'That is Mahalakshmi (Tamannaah), both remakes of Hindi blockbuster 'Queen,' are stuck in cans. "Making them more apprehensive about chick flicks," says director Bhanu Shankar, who praises them for holding their fort for quite a long time. "It is not joke to rule the roost for more than 8 to 10 years in this highly-competitive industry. They have honed their acting skills and also maintained svelte figures to give their B-town rivals a run for their money, but now they are stuck a bit," he points out.

However, director B Gopal feels that Tamannaah and Kajal's oomph factor is still creating ripples. Tamannaah drew whistles in theatres with her special song in 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' while Kajal looked smoking hot in recent release 'Sita'. "I think they have few more years left in Telugu cinema since young heroes Bellamkonda Srinivas and Sundeep Kishan are sharing screen space with them. Besides they can also take up roles with substance to showcase their acting chops to keep their stocks soaring," concludes B Gopal.
