Bhanumathi and Ramakrishna Movie: 30 & not married
The film 'Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna with Naveen Chandra and Salony Luthra in the lead is available on Aha video
Bhanumathi and Ramakrishna, are above 30, unmarried, and two completely different people. Bhnau is extremely goal oriented, serious about life and career, and ambitious. On the other hand Ram is positive, happy and small town guy with simple desires and thoughts about an ideal life. Life brings them together and the story is about how they fall in love and Bhanu understands what s he wants from life. A breezy Rom Com, refreshing in its non-dramatic approach yet sensible is the way Bhanumathi, the strong female protagonist is portrayed and a showcase of how a man can still find happiness without compromising the woman's choice and freedom. This message, the director Srikanth conveys without much fanfare, making for an ideal view on OTT.
This is Salony's first film in Telugu. She had acted in a few American and Tamil films and has received critical acclaim and awards for her performance. Incidentally her first Tamil film 'Sarabham continues to trend online and coincidentally had Naveen Chandra as the male lead. "It has been amazing to work again with Naveen as my co-starin this film too," shares Salony, "I saw a bit of myself in Bhanumathi. And when I read the script I was amazed at how the director captured a girl's emotions and thoughts with such sensitivity. And the fact that it is a fun rom com was a good break from the intense roles I did in my other films."
Director Srikanth Nagothi's story originally has its hero who was bald and with a paunch, but when Naveen showed interest to do the film, he made a few changes. "Ramakrishna is a positive person and it took some time to find him in me. I and Srikanth began this operation to find Ramakrishna. I began looking for him in people around me – in my driver, in my friends and within me as well. And I finally managed to get the right look," shared Naveen Chandra, who has always shown diversity in his choice of roles. "It doesn't matter what the role is. I try and give my 100 percent to it," he says. No wonder several of his roles like in the film, ''Andala Rakshasi' Aravinda Sametha' etc., have stayed in the audience' memories.
Naveen showered praises on his heroine and her dedication in mastering her role and the dialogues. "The language was alien, and she would always sit with her dialogues to practice. It is the same dedication I saw during her first Tamil film. And for this role she was supposed to look a little healthy and so the director made her eat a lot of food. And she took it all in her stride."
The film that has changed its name in the last minute as 'Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna' is a happy film that is ideal for a family to watch during lockdown. The seemless screenplay makes for an effortless watch. The director showed amazing sensibility in showcasing the emotions of both the lead cast who represent the two sides of today's young generation – one that is extremely ambitious and plan their life and set their goals according to their choice, and for them career is as important as marriage; and they do not mind to wait for the latte; and the other side where the youngsters take life as it comes, career is important to them, but it is not the foremost priority. They do not take life too seriously either. The film is a good change from the current trend of horror and thriller films that we see by dozens on the OTT platform. The film is charming as a rom com must be and is pleasant to watch, and in its own way reveals the deep rooted prejudice that continues to plague our society where if a girl is not married by a certain age, she is considered not suitable to be a docile wife. The film is available to watch on the OTT platform Aha.
