Director Ramesh opens up about directorial debut film Butta Bomma and roping in Anikha Surendran
Director Shourie Chandrasekhar Ramesh is set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming romantic thriller "Butta Bomma". The Telugu film, produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, is scheduled to be released on February 4th. In a recent interview, Ramesh spoke about how he decided to cast Anikha Surendran in the lead role.
Ramesh explained how he was inspired by the Malayalam original and wanted to adapt it into Telugu. He praised the approach of Sithara Entertainments in remaking "Ayyappanum Koshiyum" as "Bheemla Nayak". After connecting with Navin Nooli, the editor for many of their films, Ramesh was given the opportunity to direct "Butta Bomma".
The film stars Anikha Surendran, Surya Vashistta, and Arjun Das as the lead characters. Ramesh shared that he was impressed with Anikha's performance in Gautham Vasudev Menon's web series and wanted to cast her as the innocent character. Meanwhile, Arjun was chosen by Vamshi and Surya was selected through an audition.
The director also shared that they adjusted some elements to fit the Telugu culture, comedy, and emotions, while still maintaining the universal message. Ramesh believes that a genuine film will resonate with the audience and "Butta Bomma" falls under the romantic thriller genre, making it appealing to a wide range of viewers. He highlighted the film's music, with one song composed by Gopi Sunder and background music, and two songs composed by Sweekar Agasthi, as being a standout aspect of the film. The background score is said to be wonderful and uplifts the mood of the film.
