Guna Sekhar created a reputation for himself by constructing huge sets for his films like Okkadu, Arjun, Sainikudu and Rudramadevi. But he was never a "set" director.

He never had a set pattern to his films or stories. He liked to go for different subjects but had a passion for mythology. As a two-film old director after Lathi and Sogasu Chuda Tharama, he went for Ramayanam with kids and cast Jr. NTR as Rama.

Later, he worked with Chiranjeevi twice for Chudalani Undi and Mrugaraju. He is a director with the heavy influence of RGV, Mani Ratnam but even more influence of western films. He tried a complete Telugu masala film with Nippu and Telugu culture-based story, Varudu.

Well, both had him tumble a lot as he believes in larger than life canvas, which these stories did not have scope for. After Rudramadevi, he has been working on his dream to retell Prahlada story from Hiranyakasyapa point of view. Rana will be acting in it as the lead. Hoping that it will soon go on floors, happy birthday to the man who dreams big all the time.
