Extracts from an interview:
Tell us about your journey into acting
For me, it was an easy start, an easy debut that I got into films;before my own struggle times began.
You know that I come from a non-filmy background and I started acting when I was very young, around 16-years-old and I had no idea about south languages, especially Tamil.
Director R V Udayakumar introduced me into films, post that the choices of films that I have made got me into the wrong space where I had to struggle a bit to get back on track.
To put it right, I had no proper guidance, everything fell apart. Then I fought back and understood the pulse of the industry and learned from my experiences and corrected myself.
And, that is how I got re-launched in the Tamil movie 'Dham Dhoom', and since then, I never looked back.
What is it to be a part of the film industry?
I think we all actors go through it. It is not a goodie-goodie life.
We do not show it because our real life is not out there, and we are busy showcasing a reel life for people. We all have good and bad days in our life, and it is a part and parcel of our life.
You have to be in the constant competition in this field that keeps you always challenged, even if you do not want to, and even if you are secure, this industry makes you do things beyond your comfort zone.
There is constant pressure of being in good films and doing good work and making yourself look the best, which is not easy for any actor.
Whom would you want to work with in the film industry?
Of course, everyone's dream is to work with all three Khan's in the industry; but definitely I would love to work with Amitabh Bachchan sir, as I really admire and respect him.
The kind of roles, he plays at his age keep inspiring me each and every time.
Tell us about your new song with Mika Singh
This is my first time that I have done a single video ever in my career. Mika and I were thinking of doing a single for a very long time.
Iit was quite an experience working with the one and only Mika Sigh as he is a talented guy and a singer with huge hits.
So, when I heard the song, I loved it and this song would be the most famous songs, which we will keep humming and keep playing again and again in clubs and shows.
It was also a great experience shooting the song in Malta.
How is Laxma Raai off screen?
Whatever you see me on screen is what I am off screen as well, apart from putting up a character in the film. I am exactly the same person and I am transparent.
I do not have double standards that I am an actor and I should behave in a certain way, since that makes me feel uncomfortable.
What do you do in your free time?
Whenever I am free and get time, all I want to do is spend time at home and with my pet. My parents come to visit me once in a while when I have a long break.
I am all the time around friends and love the space around when I have nothing to do and chill at home.
I binge watch shows on Netflix and Amazon;there is so much to watch that even if you give 24 hours to yourself, you will not be able to finish it.
Are there any favourite shows that you are following?
I was following 'The American Horror Story', which I loved.
I even watched 'Dark', 'The Crown', 'Black Mirror' and there is a lot more that I am watching, but it is just that I will not be able to complete because of my hectic schedule.
Tell us about your future projects.
Right now, I am doing 'Cinderella'and'Miruga' in Tamil, 'Ananda Bhairavi' in Telugu and I am doing 'Jhansi' in Kannada.
I have just signed for a Bollywood film called 'Tipsy' directed by Deepak Tijore.
Is there any inspirational woman's role that you would want to play?
I would like to do a biopic, which is something to do with sports; an inspiring story of a woman that is connected to sports.
