N Shankar joins elite club
Director N Shankar, who made revolutionary movies like 'Encounter' and 'Jeyam Manadera,' is all set become a studio owner. The Telangana cabinet has resolved to allot 5 acres of land to N Shankar on the outskirts of Hyderabad city to construct a studio.
Actually, much before the formation of Telangana state, N Shankar came up with a hard-hitting movie 'Jai Bolo Telangana', to articulate the need for immediate bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh. Back then, the leader spearheading the Telangana movement, K Chandrasekhar Rao, the present Chief Minister of Telangana state, has even watched the film first-day first show at a theatre at RTC X Roads, Hyderabad in 2013.
After formation of the new state, N Shankar also formed a committee to restore the pride and culture of Telangana cinema and was ready to fight with Andhra-born studio owners and theatre lobby. He was close to TRS supremo and was mulling to contest elections in 2014 but later dropped his political ambitions. His last release '2 Countries' featuring Sunil failed to set box office on fire. Nonetheless, he will join the elite club of studio owners like Ramoji Rao, Superstar Krishna, Suresh Babu, Nagarjuna and others.
