A leading distributor claims that the ticket rate of the much-hyped multilingual movie 'RRR' starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, will be reportedly priced at Rs 500.

"Distributors are planning to charge Rs 500 per head in the two Telugu states. The film is slated for release on January 8, 2021, and fans of NTR and Ram Charan have to cough up more," says the distributor, who claims that the film will be sold for more than Rs 200 crore in two Telugu states including Rs 75 crore for Nizam region alone.

"Looking for Rs 50-crore plus collections on Day One and to recover their investments in the first week itself," the distributor adds. Early this year, the ticket rates of 'Sarileru Neekkevaru' and 'Ala Vaikuntapuramloo' were priced between Rs 150 to 350 and garnered record-breaking collections.

"It has become a new strategy to show up big openings after hiking the ticket rates by four to five times," rues distributor Bharat Bushan.

Now, Rajamouli's magnum opus will follow suit with revised ticket rates. The film was earlier scheduled to open in theatres in July this year, will now release across the globe in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam in 2021.

'RRR' is Rajamouli's first project since he directed the 2017 superhit 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' and expectations are soaring high.

"The combination of NTR and Ram Charan has triggered a lot of hype around the movie and the fans will not mind spending a bomb to watch the heady combination. However, hiking ticket rates is an unhealthy trend," adds distributor Vamsi Kishore.

The forthcoming film is set in the 1920s and it is a "fictitious story based on two legendary freedom fighters - Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem," who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively.
